Is it right for vegetarian owners to make their dogs vegetarian too

I knew a man when i was younger who was a vegetarian and only fed his dog a vegetarian diet.
What do you all think.

I've never been a supporter of forcing beliefs on anyone wether it is a veggie diet or religion and think religion should be banned from schools and left up to the childs family to decide

I'm a vegetarian and wouldn't dream of not feeding Sadie meat (She has a big liking for tuna)

I think most people will do what they think is best for their dog (as we would for our kids) and if we think a veggie diet is a good one we might use it

I don't give Rocky any artifical rubbish as I don't eat it myself He does however had a dog biscuit/treat on a very rare occasion (as do I - human treat not dog one!).

Even his rawhide thingys are natural

In my entire life i have only known one person to feed his dog a vegetarian diet, i have no idea what he fed it

Maybe they should bring out a range of Linda McCartney dog food

I agree - I think unless the dog is unhealthy then its not cruel to feed them a vegetarian diet.

Bruno is very fond of rubbish food - eg: offer him his Burns or a chinese takeaway I know what he would prefer !!! LOL

And he loves Rich teas so couldnt deprive him of those either. but we do draw the line at jaffa cakes they are mine mine mine !!

Personally, I don't agree with feeding dogs a vegetarian diet. Although they're semi-omnivorous, meat is an integral part of their diet. I do think it's unfair to deprive them of this for a variety of reasons, even if the dog is otherwise healthy on a vegetarian diet.

Just my opinion

If i had kids i certainly wouldn't try to force them into a vegetarian lifestyle, I do think it's a personal choice and i'm sure if dogs could talk they would rather eat meat than eat veggies.

Sadie has certainly never eaten the scraps off my plate

Well I'm a veggie but I don't impose that on my dogs - they probably have a higher amount of vegetables than most dogs but still get their meat for their main meal.
