Sudden death of a young bitch

Got a text from my driving instructor this morning telling me that Poppy, his beloved Beardie, suddenly passed away last night. She was not far off 2 years old and was spayed.

Both him and his wife adore the dogs and would do anything for them. Poppy was very much his dog and Holly, her Collie sister, was very much his wife's. They are very well taken care of and just loved running for tennis balls together.

Last Monday she was not herself and wasn't eating. They took her to the vet where they did every test under the sun but could find nothing.

She was then transferred to the vet hospital in Glasgow yesterday where she got an MRI scan which was totally clear.

They were planning to take fluid from her brain today to test for sterile meningitis, but sadly, it's too late.

She was ok, stable, at 8pm last night, however she passed away suddenly at 9.15pm.

A post mortem was being carried out today. I'll let you now what the results were.

I'm totally gutted for them as he's such a nice guy and his dogs are lovely.

Anyone ever experienced this with their dog? What did it show to be wrong?

They totally are.

I was on my way to work this morning when I got the text and ended up crying. So incredibly sad, when I think of the many stories we shared about all our dogs.

I've got a card that's for the loss of a pet which I'll post tomorrow morning.

That's so sad. Really hope the post mortem brings up something conclusive, as it must be even harder to deal with not knowing what caused it. Sounds like she was very well loved. Run free girly.

What a sad thing to happen, I am sure the owners are heart broken, lets hope the necropsy gives them some indication as to what the cause was,

A friend lost her dog suddenly last week - completely unexpected and inexplicable. It`s such a shock when it happens. But time heals - and trying to remember the good times. Best wishes to your friend.
