Second vaccination down time

I have been told by my vet the down time after the second vaccination for our pup is a week which leads me to ask what is technically a week

Do I wait the full 7 days and take him out on day 8

Do I wait the full 7 days and take him out on day 7

And what did you do? Did you wait the full period - I know some people don't but wondered what was really the safest time limit to allow Fern out.

Thanks

Hi, don't know if it's right, but I took Barney out on day 7. I couldn't wait and I still love walking him, it's never a chore to me

Hi MC vaccinations can vary slightly and it is best to follow the manufacturers instructions for the one used on Fern, so ask your vet and go with what he says

I waited the 7 days, and took Teagan out on the 8th, even though I was dying to take her out sooner! lol

If you're really bothered I'd phone the vet to clarify.

However, my vet, who I respect greatly, did D's second puppy jab last year and then told me I could take her out 'with caution'. He said words to the effect that I wa a sensible owner and D would be fine going to places I was happy with. So, not the local 'dog-s**t alley', but no problem going to people's houses, the pub, other peoples gardens etc.

We thought the pub was a good bet, as it was part of the socialisation process

Finn got his second injection on the Monday and I took him out the following Saturday, Sunday or Monday I cant remember exactly when now.

We had a chat to the vet about the time scale as we had Star coming in and out of the house after being outside and at the park. She said it was totally up to us as long as we were careful. But we decided to wait nearly a week then took him a little walk to the end of the street avoiding dogs.

Vet said I can take him out on day 7 so very pleased with that

Although I am itching to take him out -still there will be plenty of days to come for that

What a shame we missed summer time though!

No matter MC there will be lovely crisp autumn days to come...and you can still take Fern out in the car and your arms this week (if you can still carry him) You have a whole doggy lifetime of walks ahead of you.....

So true Mini.

Uunfortunately we don't have british licences and he is too heavy and now squirms to get away from us when carrying him - OH ended up with a quarter of a centimeter deep gash in his arm last time we tried so we've had to stop taking him out - although we get our neighbours, postman and whoever comes to the door say hello to him

Autumn - yes definitely a beautiful season - I can take him out on Wednesday - YAY!!!

Boy do I remember squirming! I think we took our lad out a day early but to quite a remote place.

I look forward to hearing about all Fern's escapades. Tha'ts when I'm not busy dealing with Loki's continuing escapades ...
