Zinc tabs & fish4dogs

Hi, can a dog have a zinc chelate 15mg tab daily whilst on fish4dogs dry food as i have a dog that is showing signs of zinc deficiency,didnt want to overdo it with zinc as the food has zinc chelate in it too. we are trying this one

will have a chat with him next week about it, i have found in the past that vets dont seem to know much about zinc def, when mishka was a pup & had it bad our vet had never seen it before so hadnt a clue what it was,took ages to find out. I have been told too much can upset the stomach, trots

Zinc in excess can cause the problems you wish to resolve and also interfere with the absorption of other minerals, so I would make sure that a) the dog has been correctly diagnosed with the problem and b) that the vet fully understands all sources of zinc your dog is getting.

chelated zinc at the dose i recommended is the dose for zinc deficiency in sibes as zincaderm is no longer available

also 1/2 to one teaspoon of kelp twice a week after to help stop 'relapses'

i know years ago when one of mine had a /bout' of this a vet i worked with was thinking of 'lupus' rather than the obvious at first.... he learnt a new breed specific condition lol
