Farming Life in winter

The farming way of life has many, many benefits and I love it most of the year round. However, when the winters are like the ones we have had last year and this year (so far) things do become tough.

Feeding sheep and cows becomes a full time job, with everything needing hay and/or sugarbeet twice a day.

Sorry for the overload of photos, but hope you can all appreciate why I haven't had all that much time for Dogsey recently

Snowy sheep, cows and scenes

An alternative way of getting hay to sheep

The snowplough in the distance

Snowy scene - that is the frozen reservoir in the middle of the pic

Wow, look at those snow drifts!

I love the sheep pics, you could rival this years countryfile calender winning entry there! .

I can't believe the reservoir froze like that! I remember driving past it and it's quite a big one too!

I think the reservoir is about a mile long and half a mile wide, and I have never seen it frozen as it has been these last few weeks. Thanks for your lovely compliments I loved this year's Countryfile calendar winner.

We used to have a few Herdwicks, and I would love some more but hubby says no at the moment as they are such escape artists. No, ours are Scottish Blackface.

Such hardy work, Kirsty, and you and OH (and Ben of course) are to be admired. Lovely to see such well-cared for animals - they look very well indeed

It looks beautiful and I love the sheep pics!

Our local farmer in addition to the extra work has been going into the town to collect our mail, I can't remember the last time we saw the postman!
