Lovely though all those smiley pics are none of them are what I would call 'the grin' where the mouth is closed and just the lips pulled back - it's really distinctive when you see it done - most of our Belgians will do this but Bijou is our champion grinner - she'll even do it on command at dog shows to show the judges her perfect scissor bite

One of my customers has a Lab that does this every time she brings her in the shop!
She grins and runs up to the counter to say hello!

Oh yes! Last week when we were standing in the hallway and next doors ****zu jumped out of its owners arms straight for kaya at 90mph. I couldn't get the smile of kayas face! She has waited a long time to have a scuffle with her arch enemy. Even when we got in and mummy put her to bed using her angry voice before going to check the dog next door was okay. She was beaming with delight! Naughty kaya.

Many years ago we took on a rescue English Setter who had been locked in a shed because she so-say snarled at the previous owner. What a load of rubbish - she was the most gentle girl you could wish to meet and we decided in the end that her amazing smile when she was happy must hav ebeen mistaken for something more sinister - or maybe they used it as an excuse to get rid of her. In the fourteen years we were lucky enough to have her, she NEVER once growled, snarled or did anything remotely nasty to anyone.

She was just a lovely dog with a beautiful smile.

One of mine does the full grin, mouth closed, showing her top set of teeth, it cracks me up every time but I've never been able to get a photo. It seems that it's in her line as her granny did it.

Can't let this thread go by without posting this pic:

Not a proper Belgian smile by any means, but someone is definitely having sweet dreams!
