Vinegar:Is it healthy to use in dogs?!?

Vinegar: use in dogs
Vinegar is an acid, which corrodes metal, so don't use it on your stove, or pots & pans...
The Wonders of Apple Cider Vinegar
"Vinegar" comes from the French "Vinaigre" - "Vin" for wine and "Aigre" for sour, therefore vinegar stands for "the wine that has gone sour." Vinegar was accidentally discovered by French. The fermented wine was exposed to air by accident and vinegar appeared!

Where does the vinegar actually come from, you ask? The sweet apple juice is allowed to age, sealed tightly away from the air. Until all the natural sugar has been converted to alcohol, mother-of-vinegar is then added to start the second fermentation. Meanwhile, it is left open to the air, and, the alcohol changes to apple cider vinegar. Amazing!

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is golden liquid concentrated with the healthy goodness of apples. It contains more than 30 important nutrients, 12 minerals, over 6 vitamins, essential acids and several enzymes. Moreover, it has a large dose of pectin for a healthy heart, and thus, healthy as a whole.

ACV is cheap, easy to use and it really benefits our health in numerous ways. ACV can benefit both people and their pets. It is antibacterial and anti-fungal and gives the immune system a good boost. As a high potassium electrolyte balancer, it remineralizes the body and helps normalize the blood’s alkaline acid balance.

ACV is proving most beneficial to people or animals with arthritis because it breaks down calcium deposits in the joints while remineralizing the bones. It has proven to be equally beneficial to dogs with hip dysplasia.

ACV is a good remedy for food poisoning and helpful in digestive upsets. It is also effective for urinary tract infections and it lowers high blood pressure. In fact, daily use of ACV eliminates tear stains around the eyes and nose of pets with white or light-colored fur. For those on diuretics, it is helpful in replacing potassium depletion.

ACV is the natural king of skin remedies. It is wonderful for itching and scratching pets as well as a superb skin and hair conditioner. Good old apple cider vinegar either straight or diluted 50/50 with water can be applied directly to the affected area and allowed to dry. It will eliminate dandruff, rejuvenate hair, skin and help sweeten and balance the pH levels in the body. When giving your pet a bath, shampoo, rinse, then apply ACV either straight or diluted, followed by rinsing with water. Notice, any residue shampoo will be washed out and you will feel and see an increased softness and sheen to the coat. It can be followed with a conditioner of your choice. Taken internally will help the body against arthritis, itching, obesity, bad odor, dry skin, joint problems, lack luster hair and weak immune system. Average dosage for a dog or person is 1/2 oz morning and 1/2 oz. evening. A cat is half that dose. Can be diluted fifty fifty with water, dripped on food. Finicky pets try tiny doses then work up to suggested amount.

For centuries, people have recognized ACV's health benefits to fight infection, promote digestion, and even in fighting osteoporosis. So when you eat that salad with the cider vinegar and oil dressing, you’re reaping large health benefits as well as good taste!

Perhaps the most sought after benefit of APPLE CIDER VINEGAR is the quick, easy WEIGHT LOSS it helps promote. Since it naturally helps your body get rid of excess fluids, helps speed up a slow metabolism and helps to "curb" your appetite. An age old product has been "re-discovered" and is now being used by millions to aid them in their weight loss endeavors. This liquid is highly absorbable so it starts working on you very quickly. You will be on your way to looking and feeling younger.

Enjoy!

Here is another very good article:

Apple Cider Vinegar...
Ask your grandmothers and they will probably tell you how apple cider vinegar eases arthritis and "cures all that ails you". Cider vinegar's health enhancing properties also makes it the perfect daily tonic for your horse.

Scientists have found that apple cider vinegar contains cholesterol-reducing pectin and the perfect balance of 19 minerals, including potassium, phosphorus, chlorine, sodium, magnesium, calcium, sulfur, iron, fluorine and silicon. In fact, apple cider vinegar contains 93 different components that can help your body.

The many benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar include:

* Regulates blood pressure.
* Fights infection.
* Relieves arthritis, gout and joint pain.
* Promotes Digestion.
* Improves Metabolism.
* Fights Osteoporosis.
* Maintains healthy skin.
* Relieves sore throats, laryngitis.
* Soothes sunburn, shingles and bites.
* Helps prevent dandruff, baldness and itching scalp.

Cider vinegar has many healing abilities and is known to improve certain symptoms of illness and disease. It works not by curing any specific illness, but by boosting the health of the individual with its nutritional and healthful qualities.

It may be an effective remedy for kidney disease and helpful in alleviating joint pain. The malic acid content of apples dissolves calcium deposits.

Cider Vinegar acts to balance the acid-alkaline pH levels in the body and helps to oxygenate the blood. It has been helpful as an aid for digestion, helping to break down minerals, protein and fats. It also inhibits the growth of unfriendly bacteria in the digestive tract.

Cider vinegar has detoxifying properties, strengthens the immune system and may improve viral, bacterial and fungal infections. It is used as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory medicine and has a natural antibiotic effect.

Its benefits also include improving respiratory infections and may reduce symptoms, such as watery eyes and nasal discharge. In addition, Cider vinegar can be helpful in eliminating both internal and external parasite problems.

Apple cider vinegar has been used successfully for dry, itchy or infected skin problems. If applied topically to wounds and burns it will decrease the pain and promote healing. It also controls minor bleeding from cuts and abrasions.

Apple pectin, a water-soluble dietary fiber found in apples and cider vinegar, binds to toxins in the body and assists in their removal while it may also help relieve diarrhea and constipation. And lastly, it may lower cholesterol levels and improve heart health.

So there you have it, the wonders of apple cider vinegar. It is definitely worth considering it as a daily tonic to enhance your horses health.

and one more article:
Apple Cider Vinegar is a water purifier and a natural antibiotic. No known pathogens can survive in raw Apple Cider Vinegar. A normal healthy horse, with the addition of ACV to the diet, will noticeably resist insect and parasite problems, grow shinier and more easily managed coat, and may exhibit increased endurance and energy levels.
ACV is made of the whole red sweet apple, and provides the horse with enzymes and important minerals, such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, chlorine, phosphorous, iron, silicon and other trace elements. The vitamins contained in ACV are bioflavonoids (vitamin P), beta-carotene (precursor to vitamin A), vitamin C, E, B1, B2 and B6. There are also tannins from the crushed cell walls of fresh apples as well as Malic acid and pectin and other powerful nutrients.
Start with 1/4 tsp., then go to 1/2 tsp., and slowly increase the amount of ACV in your horse's grain until you reach a maximum of 2 fluid oz. of ACV to each feed. It can be added to a serving of grain (we don't suggest putting it in hay, as hay doesn't absorb the ACV as well as grain). Usually, your horse will let you know that the taste is different the first few times you do this, after that - your horse will seem to crave the taste. You can add molasses as a sweetener if you wish.
Mix equal amounts of ACV with Avon's Skin So Soft and water; mix it up and put it in a spray bottle. This mixture is more natural than most of the fly repellents you will find available, it will work better, last longer and add shine to your horses coat. The horses won't resist application because it won't sting or burn.
The addition of ACV to a horses diet will naturally cleanse your horses internal system. By cleansing your horses internal systems you will provide your horse with its maximum natural ability to:

a). Improve coat
b). Improve overall health
c). Reduce weather stress
d). Reduce insect and parasite problems

NOTE: It has been suggested that you feed your horses ACV soaked grain only in the Spring... as this is when they are active, are growing new hair, etc.
'There is some evidence that a cup of ACV on the feed (grain) daily may prevent enteroliths in susceptible horses. Colic is not uncommon, is very serious and in horses is an emergency' - Thomas D Morrow D.V.M. 'Kidneys function largely due to a balance of what are called the sodium and potassium pumps. Salt (sodium chloride) assists the cells in the kidney to draw fluid into them for processing. Potassium compounds work to draw fluids out of the cells and form the basis of most diuretic medicines. Certain feed substances have naturally high levels of potassium and you can feed bananas or a little extra ACV if you are worried that your horse needs extra help' - Robert McDowell, Herbalist
'Many people report that feeding their horse ACV makes the horse less attractive to flies' - The Horse Interactive, 97...
