had a surreal conversation with the hospital - they are talking of discharging her either to a nursing home or back home to my mum and dad. the consultant has decided there is little more they can do for her at the moment. gran is on an acute ward.

am totally gobsmacked. they have only just managed to feed her for the first time today some pureed food. i guess there is nothing to panic about as it is going to take them some time to find her a bed. wish we could go back to the days a few years ago when they would have moved her to elderly care.

dont know what is going to happen but i guess it will sort itself out over the next week or so

update 10 january

went into see gran last night for the first time since saturday as had the 'virus'.

she looked terrible but seemed calmer. she is not eating and drinking enough. in some ways i feel she is giving up and wants to go and be with her beloved husband. i am going back in at lunchtime to try and feed her. its breaking my heart to see her like this.

have made the decision that at the moment i wont let dan see her. my brother is coming back from the usa either this weekend or next weekend. dont know if she will be still with us.

please remember us in your thoughts and prayers
