'morning Moyra and everyone

Gout is basically caused by the inability of the body to process all the uric acid produced as part of the normal function.

Not being processed means the surplus uric acid then turns into tiny crystals and these then get stuck in the joints so it's a bit like some dirt getting into a bearing on your washing machine motor, very painful.

It usually starts in the big toe but can move to the ankle, knee, and sometimes the hand.

Had the full lecture from my Doc recently so just passing on what he said. Paracetamol are no good, Co-Codamol are better but really need to do a blood test when the pain is worst and if that confirms it is gout your Doc can prescribe specialist medication.

Hope that helps

Good morning

Nice got see you back Gerry. Hope all your plans for the year come together.

Hope your painful feet improve during the day and your delivery from Tesco is on time.

Enjoy your company Nippy and the stew. Think I will do one for tomorrow.

Take it easy today Norma and hope you have a better night tonight Brenda.

Hope Lauryn is feeling better soon.

Still cold and frosty here. Teasel and `I have had a nice frosty walk and she is now tucked up in her bed under the radiator and I am having a coffee.

Hi Gerry nice to see you again

I am slowly coming to the conclusion that there are huge numbers of people who shouldn't own a dog at all. It must be horrible when you are such a situation when it's obvious what should be done and you can't do it.

Some dogs (Such as the Newfoundland) have two coats and can withstand very low temperatures but that does not mean all dogs can. People are so ignorant, they won't read up, probably can't read much, what is wrong with the education system that we are still churning out muppets like the owners of this dog

Thanks Harvey, I used to suffer gout on a regular basis and as Griff said I did end up in A and E with it at its worse since then I have been regularly taking colchicine which has kept it at bay. These pains in my feet are more likely just the arthritis as it is in my knees and shins too.

Morning all. Another very cold on here, snow gone but it is icy on our street. I've just put fresh water in the bird feeder station and cracked the dish getting the ice out of it, hopefully it'll mend with the glue gun.

Hope Sarah is improving today Eileen and Lynn my thought are with you. Hope everyone else who is suffering with something,be it illness or circumstance, is better soon.

Well, must get something done in this messy house, have a good day everyone.

Good morning fellow members a lovely sunny morning but very cold.

I hope to get some cleaning done today and I am not happy with the last batch of marmalade. The muslin I use to stain the pulp was too tatty to use so I made do with a sieve and result is very cloudy bitter marmalade so I may go out for more oranges and a new muslin .

Enjoy your day everyone

Gerry nice to see you again.

Poorly people get well soon xx
I now have a cold and chest infection so will join the sick bay shortly with a supply of brandy and hot milk..

Thinking of you today Lynn, a sad journey for you and hope you get through it without mishap. Lovely to see you again MM, it does make financial sense for you doesn't it, and as long as you have some money on top of the state pension its nice to be able to do that. I took early retirement at 55 and worked for myself for 5 years before retiring fully and it was nice to be able not to rush if I didn't feel like it. Like HRvey says those people don't deserve a dog, saw a spaniel on Saturday minus it's natural coat but nothing to keep it warm and I felt sorry for the poor thing. Mine may live out, but they have heavy coats and are kept warm and dry with proper bedding and heat when it is cold. Moyra I've a friend with gout and she takes Sour Cherry for it, sure its called that. Hope Sarah is feeling a bit better this morning Eileen, will be having a look at DAD, was on the phone till late and never went on, just went to bed Norma you'll have to get a nanny nap today. Brenda i think Capricorns can have a nanny nap if they want Cold and sunny here, nice day for walks, then will defrost the car and go for shavings if it stays like this, and the forecast says it will. Youngest son been on the phone and he says he'll be over tomorrow morning before I go out, well we'll see
