Injury to back leg

Hi any advice would be great. My father has had my dog out for his normal walk today and when the walk was nearly over he tried to start playing with my dads dog and then just started screaming and holding up his hind leg this was about 1.45 today he still can't put his leg down and is struggling getting up i am going to ring the vets in the morning but don't want him to be in pain during the night

Poor chap, and poor you too.

It could be any number of things, and only an examination by the vet will determine what it actually is - ruptured cruciate comes immediately to my mind, given that it happened suddenly whilst playing, but equally it could just be a pulled muscle or similar.

If he is still in pain now and not weight bearing at all, then I would definitely ring your vet for advice, and hopefully you can be seen first thing tomorrow. Good luck.

Hope he is ok, If he has swelling I wonder if something could possibly be broken.
Please give an update when you have seen the vet today.
