Rianna died today.
A very sad day. Rianna has gone to the bridge, it came on very quick. This morning she was walking OK and got in the car when we went to the polling station, on our return she was unable to settle, breathing still not good, after I posted on the Daily Thread at 02:57 I took Casey for a walk, decided not to take Rianna, when I got home she was lying by the back door, couldn't get up, a lot of horrible fluids leaking from her behind and masses of greenbottle flies on her and a horrible smell. Immediately phoned the vets who said bring her in at 4:30 if we could get her in the car, we could not, even two of us could not lift her, and she was in a lot of pain and crying. Something I never heard from her. Phoned the vets again who said they would send someone to our house at 5:30 Rianna still crying and in pain and then the rain came. Made a makeshift kennel out of pallets and a tarpaulin to keep her dry. At 6:00 vet phoned to say there was some delay, they eventually arrived at 7:00pm, a vet and a nurse, very competant and he carried out some tests, but there was really no hope, she couldn't move, her breathing was all from the tummy not the lungs, gums didn't go white when pressed, tongue brown not pink, no reaction when he inserted thermoneter or moved her legs. He didn't hesitate to say there was nothing they could do.So at 07:45 apprx. she went to sleep, and shortly after (On the second injection) she passed away. She will be cremated and we will bury her ashes somewhere in the garden with a memorial stone alongside the one for Baruska.
Casey wouldn't go near her when she was lying on the slabs at our back door but he knows, he is extremely subdued.

Forever grateful stay.
But should you call her back
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.
If, by our love, we've managed,
Your wishes to achieve,
In memory of her we loved,
To help us while we grieve,
When our faithful bundle
Departs this world of strife,
We'll have yet another Puppy
And love them all their life.

There is nothing to say that will help just at the moment but the thoughts of myself and the Mem are with you and your good lady.
