Forgot to say that I got Sam [my cat ] when she was abount 1hr old so hand rear her and yes tears will pour when she go's. If Tilly is not eating very well but has taken water you should still be able to give her her meds as the water can still protect the tummy lineing as that is why we take food with meds to protect the lineing

Thanks for that Ellea - one of my problems with giving Tilly her meds is that the Alucaps are large capsules and I need to give them in food and Tilly has become very expert at sussing out which bits of food contain capsules. It has become almost a battle of wits with her at times - I swear she thinks its a game as she looks so pleased with herself when she spits out the food with the capsules in - what a girl lol

Susannah I am glad you rang the vet and that Tilly is eating better . I think she will have days when she feels better than others and more like eating.

Thank goodness. You have been in my thoughts. I too get panicked if dogs go off their food so your concerns were understandable. Give Tilly a hug from us (although I reckon my dogs would bypass the hug and move straight in to steal her food!!)

Butter is my anwer to pill giving.. I fold the capsule etc in a small lump of butter, put it in collie's mouth then hold her mouth closed and pointing skywards

The butter melts and down goes the pill... and she has so swallow ..She loves butter so now when she sees me reach for the butter, she lies down ready!

Occasionally she manages to eject the pill but just pop it back in then.

And so glad she is better; dogs are so wholehearted when they are sick that it scares. Wee dog once rolled down concrete steps and the day after you would think she was dying.. bassett face etc, so I wrapped her in a blanket on the chair with a hwb and by evening she was racing around again. They don't put on a brave face as we do. Wise critters.

Have you heard the acronym.. FEAR

false evidence appearing real

ie panic...

Thanks again for all the recent posts. Tilly had another good day today and has been out enjoying the snow several times during the day. For a 16 year old she has some energy!!
