scared pup(and owner!!!)

For the last 3 nights running Holly has scared me silly by jumping up hackles raised and barking at the patio doors then running away.As my other half is away at the moment it has made me quite jumpy.I know they can go through a stage of being scared of things they are normally ok with so as she is nearly 6 mths old could this be what is happening as she can see the washing pole and that seems to be the direcction she is looking in.Would like your thoughts before i call hubby home and feel silly ops:

Its scary when they do that. My OH works nights a lot and Star does it too. She can be lying sleeping then next minute up and barking and growling at nothing.

HiYa
I think youll proberbly find a Cat has walked accross the garden after dark. and Holly has spotted it. so now feels the need to warn it away every so often, as she is scared herself she has to make herself look as ferociouse as possible to scare the cat away. (she may not have relised it was a cat)

On the other hand, it could be the mad Axe man thats just escaped your local hospital, hiding in your shed untill after dark. :smt077

Hi

My guess would also be a cat or a bird or the wind grabbing leaves. And then combined with the age "thing".

I wouldn't call hubby just yet.

My hubby also works a lot of nightshifts, all 5 of my dogs sleep in the kitchen, suddenly they go mad marking, usually the middle of the night..........I let them out, scared to death, usually it's a hedgehog out on the patio, I let them back in and run back to bed.........

Just a thought.

Do you have a glass door ??

Your dog might be hearing a noise, and when looks up, sees a reflection of its self in the glass and barks at that.

Now go to bed and have peaceful sleep.

Good night. :smt023
