Itchy

My chihuahua is constantly scratching, the vet said mild allergy but didn't recommend any treatment. Would anyone know of anything that would help? Someone in another forum said I should switch my dog to a grain free dog food. Any suggestions on a brand?

I see you're in Canada
Orijen is a great food to try if you aren't comfortable with a raw diet

Not much good just saying my dog is scratching, that tells us nothing. Is it scratching just one spot for example, is the skin dry/moist are there any spots blemishes on the skin where the dog scratches. Does the dog do it only in hot weather? ie heat rash. Any signs of flea droppings or even fleas?

I just don't understand how you can ask for help without giving any details

Thanks, do you know if it comes in small kibble size?

It's general scratching not in any one particular place, wherever her leg will reach and rubbing her neck and back on the carpet. Her skin is buttery soft, like expensive leather, lol.

If its not a food allergy then its enviromental, the only way to know for sure is to take the dog to a doggie dermatologist and they can do skin scrapings to find out what he's allergic to.

Here's a few tips for you try

bath in resicourt shampoo
milasec (spelling?) conditioner, leave on, do not rinse off
wipe feet and belly with unscented baby wipes when he comes in from outside
hydrocortizone for the itch, (super strength benedril)
