Puppy food- when to switch?

Just wondering what age is it recommended to switch from a puppy food to an adult food? I think I read somewhere 6 months is a good time, but I'll be away when Archie turns 6 months so is it better to do this before or after?

I have no expertise in feeding small breed dogs. This site suggests the change-over should take place at around 10 months: http://www.petfriendly.com/corporate...nutrition.html

I am not sure how reliable the above recommendations are. I change my medium-large dogs over at around 6-8 months.

If my dogs have filled out nicely I'll change around 8/9 months, but sometimes continue right up to 12 months

Im changing Finn to adult food as soon as his adult teeth are through and he is able to cope with the size of kibble probably about 5 months.
