What does your dog steal?

As many of you know Bella is a Goldie and yes I should accept her retrieving- but she seems to steal anything and doesn't bring it back- her real favourite at the moment is:

Socks and pants (clean or dirty)

Not sure if this is still puppy behaviour at 12 months old but it is quite embarrasing having my underwear scattered over the lawn

What does yours steal if anything?

When the fruit etc is ripe in the garden she pinches the strawberries and jumps up and steals the apples off the tree, then wonders why she has tummy ache.
When the greenhouse door is open she goes in there and steals tomatoes too

Top favourite - tissues - used or new. She goes down my bag for them.

Undies if you don't pick them up as soon as you kick them off! Socks. Usually other people's I don't generally wear them.

And, last week, a €20 note from my bag! She did look funny hiding under my bed with it! Didn't chew it up - just kept frantically looking for somewhere to hide her 'loot'.

Anything that's not his!!

Pants, preferably worn, although he's not fussed whether they're mine or OH's.

Socks, his preference is worn, but is also delighted with himself if he can get one fresh from the tumble drier.

Cat food.

Cat poo from the litter tray!

Towels from the radiator.

All the cleaning cloths/sponges from the bathroom.

Rubber gloves.

Love him to bits though

My OH gave me a fantastic tip when my two were pups, as gundogs you don't want to put them off the idea that they want to carry things in their gubs to you

Sooooo, whenever the "steal" anything, we make a big deal of the idea that if they bring it over to us, they get a huge high value reward, but also, we don't take the offending item off them either. We never give them into trouble for "fetching" anything.

Means that opposed to getting something and running off with it, they get something and run straight to one of us like "yay!!!! Look what i've got!!"

My daughter in law would be delighted if your OH trained mine - she'd get her odd socks back!

Meantime - we get funny piccies of the dog hiding under chairs and beds proudly displaying her 'steal'!

It would be far easier to tell you what Spencer doesn't steal. Basically if it isn't nailed down he will pick it up and run off with it. He apparently didn't get the memo that dogs don't like metal in their mouth, my keys are often stolen.
