Where should I let my dog sleep?

Tye's always had his own bedroom but since his legs haven't been so great his bed has been downstairs to minimize him negotiating the steps. He's been perfectly happy like this for about a year but the past few nights after lights out he's crept upstairs and slept on the floor next to me.

Now I don't mind this at all, but last night OH did his nut after sat in bed watching TV and tye trumped and made him gag I slept through quite obvlious until OH told tye to go out of the room

What's the compromise here? I think if the dog wants to sleep next to me (on the floor) then whats the harm? He's an old chap so if he feels better like this then let him? However OH isn't having any of it. I could as a compromise move his whole bed upstairs into his old room but not sure if this is close enough for Tye.

What's can I do for the best?

LOL Maxine. I was half tempted to sleep downstairs with the dog but I don't think that's the answer either! I was just a bit worried in case he didn't feel well, or something to lead to the change in where he wants to sleep?

Make up a comfy bed in the kitchen and put the OH in there.

(Leaving a radio tuned to a sports channel might help him settle.)

We took our dogs into a motel in Bradford once and they trumped so much they set the smoke alarm off and the whole motel was evacuated into the carpark at 3am!! We got so used to the smell we hadn't noticed how bad they were. It was my fault for allowing them to eat the complimentary dog food from the motel. We were in the process of moving house and I'd packed their food somewhere and couldn't find it

Tell your OH he won't notice after a bit!

Old dogs should sleep where they want IMO. But be careful he doesn`t fall getting up the stairs - maybe putting a bed downstairs would be the answer?

Good bit of advice.

Seriously I think older dogs deserve a few privileges. I'd let him decide where he wants to be. Good luck with OH.
