Smudge ~ Perfect Walking Companion - 4yo Black Greyhound

SMUDGE

Meet Smudge. She is a beautiful black female greyhound who has now finished with the racing world. She is 4 years old and has a rather distinguished face that is just starting to turn silver.



~ Personality ~
Smudge is a really delightful little girl and is a favourite amongst the kennel staff. She is full of the joys of life and gets very excited when she sees you coming. Once the initial excitement has passed, Smudge is a model hound who is a joy to be around. She is very interactive with people and is always prepared to give as many cuddles as she gets! Smudge absolutely adores getting groomed and fussed over and will go straight onto her back for a big belly rub.



~ Other Animals ~
Smudge is well behaved with the other greyhounds in the kennels and really enjoys running offlead with them in our enclosed paddock in the afternoons. She has not been tested with small dogs or cats but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required.



~ In the Home ~
Smudge has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience. This girl is going to adore the home life, and has so much to offer her forever family.



~ Out and About ~
Smudge lives for her walks and absolutely loves getting out of kennels. After the initial excitement has worn off, she walks beautifully on the lead and stays to heel. She is a very curious girlie and will take every opportunity to put her nose to the ground and ‘smell the roses’, so to speak. Smudge has not seen much of the world outside of kennels and is bursting to explore and learn. She would be well suited to an active family who enjoy long weekend walks so that she can truly start to experience the big wide world and what it has to offer.



~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

~ Where Am I? ~
Smudge is currently in kennels in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to Norfolk to meet and collect her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Smudge is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhound Connection is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.

~~ KERRY GREYHOUND CONNECTION ~~

Kerry Greyhound Connection is a small voluntary organisation that has bases in Co. Kerry, Ireland and Norfolk, England. It operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe. We can look after approximately 70 greyhounds at any one time, in Ireland and the UK.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and given a full veterinary check before being adopted.
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, Central Europe and the USA.
