Why are blondes supposed to be dumb?

Hello
Can you tell me why blondes are supposed to be "dumb"?
The reason why i'm asking this is that i'm blonde and i'm not "dumb". Yes i can be thick sometimes but then again some brunettes for example can be thick (no offense to brunettes! )

my lucys a natural blonde and she is very intelligent i think its just a sad old stereotype.im a bottle redhead and people always say oh no wonder your bad tempered!!lol its not even natural!!

I am not blond and never have been and I am dumb

I think it stems from the old films of the 40/50s when the leading ladies were often blond and frequently stupid

I think you could be right, we do stereotype very badly I'm sure all the Irish cannot possibly be as stupid or the Scots as mean !

I'm blonde (not naturally) and I'm far from dumb, quiet the opposite in fact. Although there's times when I do have 'blonde moments'

My natural colouring does have red in it and I'm afraid I have a temper to match it
