Bonny, Staffie, DOB 09

Bonny, Staffie, DOB 09

Homing Requirements: Bonny needs a dog confident home as she has lost 2 homes now where people were looking to her as the puppy dog to call the shots. With firm and kind management Bonny's confidence and skills will grow, in particular with respect to other dog encounters. Bonny is good with children, but not for small furries or cats.

Her Story: Bonny lost her home when a puppy was introduced. She was taken in by a family, but they were not experienced enough to assure Bonny's skills with other dogs matured so was kept away. Bonny is novice with dogs, but not bad. Bonny needs a dog centred family.

Advert: Bonny has just come into temporary foster and she is finding life stimulating, challenging and a whole lot of fun. She is learning to mix with dogs outside, enjoying car journeys, paddling in streams and being kissed by children. The latter she is well used to as her life has been about children, but now its time to discover what being a dog is all about and associating with 'one's own kind'. Bonny is probably not for cats, small furries or feathers.

Bonny is a beauty; bonny indeed. Her fur colouring is 'champagne', but its not yet time to break open the bottle ... lets find your right family first. Bonny needs to embrace life and enjoy the adventure. She needs to find herself and mature by developing confidence based on training. She may never be 100% fluent with other dogs inside her home, but outside she meets dogs well. Staffies are 'people dogs' and this identification is strong; dogs exist sure! Bonny's life has been about the company of children and she offers this as her skill, joy and delight.

An update by Janet, one of our volunteers, on Bonny:

"Our group walk to Frensham Ponds

We (Jayne, Kate, Leslie, Martin, Wendy, Olwen and me) decided to take some of the kennel dogs out for a little trip – so we went in a 5 car convoy, expertly lead by Kate, to nearby Frensham Ponds. I think we created a bit of a stir with the regular dog walkers there – I overheard a few people comment on the size of our group and a couple with a very small dog actually stood (at a distance!) to watch and listen as our dogs decided to become a very noisy and not very tuneful canine choir while we tried to eat our lunch.

Apart from a bit of a girlie squabble (dogs, not walkers!) we all had a really good time and it was good for us to see how the dogs interacted with each other and with the general dog walking public, who were out in force yesterday.

Bonny came out to play with Spice, Milly, Cassie, Pebbles and Stan (Starsky)

Bonny was very quiet when we set off but perked up when we arrived in the car park!
She loved going in the water and was the most adventurous in the group -she nearly swam

Bonny loves chasing sticks and balls and wasn't too keen on sharing!

Group walks like this will definitely help to improve her confidence levels.
