I don;t like the Halti harnesses very much - I have not found them to be very well made. They tend to 'slip' so as your do pulls it can get quite loose and therefor low around the shoulders. am afraid I have not used he other type you are looking at - but if it is the same design (front clipping as opposed to back) I like to use the Premier easy walks (check about for prices a they vary - I can PM youa link to the place I use if you like) or the Sens-ibles from the US. They are both very well constructed easy to take n and off and I have not yet had a dog that they do not work on

I dont use a harness at all, but I do 'loop' my lads lead if I feel i need more control or to slow him down. I have a training lead and basically just clip both ends to his collar and loop the lead over his head, (looks a bit like reins). It then controls him from the bottom of the collar and across the chest, (much like the Halti harness really), and it seems to calm and slow him. Its also very easy to then unloop the lead once he's settled, and then continue our walk on a loose lead.

I have used this method with Dan and it does work. With regards to harnesses I find the Mikki Walkrite to be really good, and it's reasonably priced too. I lent one to my friend for her BC but she was allergic to the latex in it so she got a Halti harness and training lead, which does work well for her.

Thanks for the replies, it's certainly given me food for thought!
Think I'm going to give the halti harness and double ended lead a go. It's not too expensive so won't break the bank if it doesn't work.

Thanks again!

Louise13, thanks for the offer, I think that size would be a bit mahoosive for Maggie, but thank you!

my 2 use the halti body harnesses. Mya's a puller so she has a double ended lead on, one attached to the front neck part and the other to the back part, gives me more control over her.
Fred doesn't pull but he can escape his collar if he gets spooked so I use this for him. His lead is just attached to the neck part.

I tried the no-pull sporn harness with Mya and to be honest I prefer the halti harness, I found she could drag me if she needed to on the no-pull one.
I have a medium size and that has plenty of room, might be best to take your dog and try the small and medium on to see which is the best fit xx

Thanks for this. Should the halti be quite tightly fitted or a bit more roomy?

I have it snuggly fitted with the strap that goes across the chest not as tight. They are quite big sizes for medium. Could expand to fit a much bigger dog
