Lulu-1 year today-feel so ,so sad

Our collie cross Lulu died at 11 45 p.m. Jan.28th last year-
Cant believe Im typing this and cant see the screen
Have been holding it together all day but just doing this now has brought it all back

She hadnt been ill -apart from a slight collapsing incident months before and was checked by the vet

I keep blaming myself for not taking her to the vet the night she died
She was doing a lot of panting-but we put it down to our having the fire and heating on,as it was a cold January night
We didnt want to take her to the Emergency Vet as it would mean taking our other dog ,Buster,(who has dementia) with us and it would have stressed him too much, plus she lay down on the couch with me and closed her eyes-her breathing seemed to be okay-no more panting
She died with her head on my knee, lying on the couch and we couldnt believe it
It was made worse for me because I had spent a few hours earlier that night on here-if only I had known what was going to happen I would have stayed downstairs with her

She was such a lovely girl-a bit of a grump sometimes but with huge brown eyes that could charm the birds off the trees
We had had her for 15 yrs, along with her "brother " Buster
from the Rescue I worked for

Thank you to all of you who replied to my post this time last year-it helped SO much
One member I have been in daily contact with has especially supported me and deserves a special thank you
(She is Lucys mum and we have shared our feelings of loss after she lost her dog in April last year
She sent me lovely card today-thank you so much Diane)

My thought are with all of you who are going through this
I know its the price we pay for loving them, but it doesnt make it any easier to bear

If anyone else feels or felt that they could have done more
please P.M me as this thought wont go away

Sorry for the long rambling post

Sorry to read this
There is nothing more you could have done, it's only hindsight which offers these thoughts.

Sounds like she was a lovely girl,
Best wishes X

Thank you-cant stop crying
Have been out to where she is buried and lit 5 candles for her -the first thing that I thought about after we had buried her was that I didnt want her to be in the dark
Many people would think that was mad but......

Lynn-I was thinking of you today as I remember replying to your post when you lost Ollie ( it sticks in my mind especially because of my user name-Ollie is one of our 3 cats)
I can remember feeling so sad for you

Love
Maureen

Malka -thanks for your P.M re O.Hs heart attack-it really helped
Feel awful I didnt reply Will Pm you soon

Oh Maureen, we all feel your pain. In loving them we have to also bare the pain of losing them. Don't feel guilty for not taking her to the vet. It sounds like it was sadly just her time and she chose to go to sleep, with her head on your lap where she felt loved. That's much better than her passing in a vets surgery. Hugs to you on this sad day. I hope one day, this anniversary will be a day when you can remember Lulu and smile but for now, let the tears fall. xx

We all feel your pain Mo, rest assured that you did everything you could for Lulu, she knew just how much she was loved and cared for.

My thoughts and prayers are with you on this sad day.

xxxx

Maureen, I am so sorry, it will get easier but they will always be in our hearts. I lost 3 of my babes last year and god, do I miss them... I am very lucky to have 2 new pups now and one of my ''old'' girls is still going strong. It gave her a new leash of life.. Thinking of you and big hugs xx
