Chilli Peppers

About 2 months ago I bought a plant that was just labeled Chilli Peppers, no other name.
I don't like chillis but my son does, the hotter the better. He brags that he has never had a chilli that is too hot for him.
Today I told him there were some ready for picking so off he went and picked them. Came back to the kitchen and said I'm going to try one.
He cut just the end off one and ate it, then said these are just ordinary peppers, they are not chillis. His wife tried some and turned a very funny colour So he had some more of it and flew to the bin to spit it out
Apparently it is the hottest pepper he has ever had
He has taken the rest to make a chilli tomorrow.
If I saved some of the seeds could I grow some more next year do you think?
