Companion Dog Club/Shows

Can anyone tell me anything about the Companion Dog Club and shows?

What does joining it mean and what does it give you? What is it exactly?

I was going to join and then thought 'actually I don't even know what it is!'

So could anyone just give me any info they have on any of it?

Thankyou!

A companion show is open to pedigree and non pedigree dogs, pedigrees do NOT have to be KC registered. There is no joining, you enter the show on the day.

Hi Lottie
With the Companion dog club, you can get into certain classes at companion dog shows, and you also get tickets to get into crufts and discover dogs. You get a certificate a car sticker a tag and news letters when you join.

I just went to my first companion dog show and i think it cost about £5 or something for 4 classes, which was really good!

Im going to do more as it was really helpful for me as much as the dogs as i've never done any showing before and its a cheap and less-stressful way of preapring for the bigger, more expensive championship shows! It was a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere..

Does anyone know if theres a website or something with a list of companion shows? We just get the schedules from our ringcrafts classes but they only have a couple of copies so we miss a lot of them!

Imagine it is a club for pet owners, used to run one myself the dogs got to learn a bit of all sorts of activities including fun activities like relay racing, agility and flyball along with basic obedience and ring craft, along with free, but supervised, exercise for the younger ones to help socialise them. We just called it a dog club and think the charge would depend on the cost of the hall it is held in. We used to charge a little extra to pay for a BBQ in the summer and a Christmas dinner night.
