Our tv has been out of action since June. We've been given a little box thing so we can pick up some English channels, it doesn't work. I don't miss it so haven't bothered reporting it. I begrudged paying for a tv license back in the UK though, we simply didn't watch it. We use the tv to play games on the playstation and to watch dvds, that's it. I'd happily have BBC disabled and no tv license fee personally but they don't give us that option.

It does seem a lot of money as you're not left with much in the way of viewing options if you are like me and dislike soaps and reality programmes.

I only really watch Eggheads on BBC2 every weekday and the news and also watch a programme to pass the time whilst I do ironing.

I think you're the first person I've found who also doesn't like them.

I think its too much for what you get, which is why I went bout a year without one, and when I did go to get one I set it up online and they took out twice what their site told me they would, when I rang up all I got was 'the websites only a estimate', I was spewing, coz I had a £30 bank fee after that, coz all I left in was what I needed for what I was told, I did get one this week though, but I'm not the one paying it, not had my telly on for a while though, so its nice to have it back.

the only soap I like is THE soap, The Archers on Radio 4; this is worth the licence fee alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Partypooch, thats what I mean about intimidation and bully tactics to get people to pay a license. They can fine just for having a PC at home as you can watch TV on it BUT as you say, its supposed to be a fee to cover live tv viewing and BBC......

I used to watch a fair bit Friday and weekends for the comedies, dramas, films.... now because we have moved house and have no tv (at present) I watch it all on Iplayer or 4OD.

Another way round this is to get a lodger over the age of 75. They get a free TV licence. LOL

I must say I have never had one in my life. I would rather go without a TV. Like so many of you I watch Merlin on Saturday and Doc Martin on Monday. That is it.

If anything happens to Dad the TV will go.
