Sidney ~ Big Quiet Softy - 5yo Black Greyhound

SIDNEY

Sidney is a 5 year old large male greyhound. He has a soft black coat with a greying, distinguished muzzle and is an ex-coursing dog.

Sidney has had a hard working life so far and has an air of 'been there, done that' with all that he sees. He's a very quiet boy who is easy to get on with and is no hassle in the kennels. Sidney has a big, soft heart and wants nothing more than to lay in the sun and relax in his retirement. He's rapidly learning what cuddles are all about and is relishing all the attention he's getting now.

As Sidney is an ex-courser, he has not yet experienced the joys of a home environment, so new owners will need to be understanding for the first couple of weeks and allow him to settle in. We think that once Sidney settles in to his home, he's going to be a no-hassle, no-bother loyal companion with his softy heart.

**UPDATE: AUGUST 2010**

Sidney is waiting for his forever home still, though has settled well in to our kennel routine and knows when its time for his favourite things – breakfast and dinner! Sidney is a really lovely boy, a big cuddler who will relish just being able to stretch out on a soft sofa for the day. He will make a lovely, easy addition to the family.

**UPDATE: AUGUST 2010b**

Sidney has now travelled across to the UK, where he is waiting for his forever home. He is a truly lovely boy who is very biddable. He has been introduced to some small dogs and has gotten on very well with them, though he will still need to be watched at the beginning if smaller dogs are offlead and running around until he gets used to it.

Sidney has had to have a series of operations on his paw pads as he had bad corns that his previous owner left go untreated. He is now doing very well and is only occasionally lame on hard ground, though this is continuing to improve as his pads harden up again. He is clean in the house, non destructive, and such an easy lad to keep contented.

**UPDATE: AUGUST 2010c**

Sweet Sidney recently helped out in the Cromer Carnival in Norfolk, where he helped promote greyhound awareness. He is such a perfect gentleman with all people, young and old, and his eyes really do melt your heart.

Dear Sidney has had a tough life, and really needs to find his forever home now. Now that he has gotten the treatment he needed, his painful corns are much, much better and he really enjoys his walks. Sidney is a lovely big softy hound and is sure to slot in to the home as if he’s always been there.

**UPDATE: AUGUST 2010d**

Dear Sidney is now lucky enough to be in a foster home, where he is getting to experience home comforts for the very first time. He is truly relishing his new soft bed and likes to stretch out and doze for 99% of his day!

Sidney is a beautifully mannered boy, and is so relaxed he finds it hard to keep his eyes open! He is brilliant with everyone and everything – adults, children, large and small dogs, and is such an incredibly easy boy to have around. He would do very well as a ‘beginners greyhound’ for someone adopting their first sighthound, and is sure to make an absolutely perfect companion.

The gorgeous Sidney is doing well in his foster home, and has settled down almost immediately. We will update with his progress in more detail shortly. He is fantastic with other dogs and seems to get along with everyone. He loves his group walk with his other houndy friends. He is the dog furthest on the right in this photo.

Sidney is currently in foster care in Suffolk, UK. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks.
