Puppy pack help please!

Hi everyone! I'm new and really hoping you guys can help me. I am having to look after my friends Boxer and her 6 puppies (born 30th September) as she has been taken ill. I am wanting to do puppy packs for them and wondered if there are help and care sheets that I can print out? About worm and flea treatment, house training, crate training and any care needs for the breed.

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to Dogsey. Wow, you have taken on a lot there . I am not familiar with Boxers, so can not help you with the specifics in that respect. You can however, get info sheets from most vets practices, so my first port of call would be the vet of the dog you are looking after. I hope that helps. I'm sure some more experienced members will provide some more help . Good luck with it.

Care needs re Breed
Well training has to be firm but fair (But I think most breeds are the same) and sometimes Boxers can be stubborn and exhuberant. So not for the feint hearted
and that includes obedience trainers too.

Worming, flea treatments, house training etc will all be the same as others breeds in timing depending on product used and also will depend on puppies weights.
With crate training they have to be careful that they get the right type of cage and that it's a strong one.
The latches either have to be spring loaded a bit like Rosewood ones or L shaped rather than I (straight) ones for door catches as Boxers can be escape artists.

Puppies should be being wormed whilst still with breeder
You just need to keep a record of when they were wormed (date) what with and how much product was used and puppy's weight. This you need to print off or sometimes the vets can provide a worming certificate card with the product if you buy from them or you make up your own.
Flea treatment would only need to happen if they have fleas I wouldn't treat for fleas if they don't have them.
Their immune systems will be hit with enough when they leave for their new homes at 8 weeks old (with innoculations and change of environment).
Also I gave my new puppy owners 2kg of the food that I was feeding the puppies on that way new owners had time to go out and get the food in.

The other thing that I forgot to add is socialisation and getting lots of the right socialisation it's absolute key.

What the puppy owner puts in as a wee puppy they will reap the reward as their puppy becomes an adult.
