Christmas trees - real or artificial?

If you put a Christmas tree up at Christmas, which do you go for - real or artificial?

I love the real thing best - the smell is lovely and reminds me of Christmases as a child. However, we have had an artificial one for years because I'd be worried about Loki eating the needles or hurting his paw on one or something and the needles end up everywhere.

I've always had real trees, even though I don't have small children anymore. Doesn't seem to ever bother the girls either.

Artificial.
I can't be doing with all the needles dropping, because they do drop no matter what they tell you.
The last time I had a real one I was still hoovering up needles in August
Also artificial ones are tidier, more symmetric, I can't bare all the odd shapes and the branches sticking out at odd angles from the real ones

We've only ever had an artificial tree in our house.

My dad had a real one in his hall one year and I did have to stop Max from cocking his leg on it the first time he walked past it he must have thought 'finally, I don't need to go out in the cold to pee'

Artificial here too - I just can't be bothered with all that buying one, getting it home, cleaning the car out of needles then dragging it indoors and vacuuming again - Much easier to open a box and voila a tree is born

Not that I'm a christmas bah humbug or anything

I don't have space for a real one so invested last year in a really nice, slim artificial one.
If I have family coming over, I do try to put a real one in my conservatory, but its one from in the garden that we have grown in a pot - we have no heating in there so the tree doesn't come to any harm, then goes back in the garden after the festivities

Real all the way for me!

Each year keep the bottom of the tree to put on the fire for 'tree putting' up day the year after (Christmas tree bark gives a really lovely smell when put on the fire!)

However, bit worried Riley will be using it as a toilet from the get-go - especially as I normally put it up from 1st (I really do love Christmas!)

Artificial here, and one that doesn't need anything added either, just get it out of the box, put it up, plug it in and away I go to Christmas

Real all the way here, love the smell of a real one , worth all the mess of the needles dropping.

P.S...never had a problem with needles and dogs paws either
