Toothache

I woke up with toothache this morning , I haven't had toothache for years and forgot how bad it felt. I phone my dentist and can't get an appointment for 2 weeks . So I need some remedies from all you lovely dogwebbers, to help deal with the pain (any remedies other than downing a half bottle of voddy, I am just about to try that one ). The pain is more like a "raw nerve" pain rather than an ache.

Sorry to hear that olive, nothing worse - only earache!

You will have to go to the chemist and get some tooth tincture. It's in a very small bottle and you put it on the tooth with a cotton bud and this will numb it all. Sounds like it's a tooth problem more than an abcess, so this should work a treat on that. They do quite a few remedies like that in small bottles, one of which is also called oil of cloves I think? good luck, and don't forget if it gets too bad to handle you can always phone your local hospital who run an emergency dental surgery for things like this, so trythem too. I know what you're going through and it's not good is it. Poor you. Take care.x

Oil of Cloves and some alcohol should dull the pain for a while. Does your dentist not do emergency appointments?

Earache - The last time I had earache I ended up in hospital on Morphine - they found out I was allergic to cigarette smoke . It appartently aggraviates the excema in my ear - so I now have to limit my socialising, who am I kidding

Thanks Helena, I'll get Kevin to go to Tescos pharmacy tonight and get me some.

Dogwebbers: I should apologise in advance to everyone, as I plan to get very drunk tonight to kill the pain, so if I end up talking a load of rubbish be patient with me

He's on holiday and the other dentist is fully booked. The receptionist said that I should phone every day to see if they get a cancellation - fingers crossed.

Thats terrible, they should be the ones phoning you if they get a cancellation surely if they know you need treatment. Bet they would if you were a private patient.

I think the others have covered all the remedies, if it gets really sore and you can't get an appointment go to your GP, he might be able to give you a prescription painkiller

Thats terrible Olive, doesn't your dentist fit emergencies in quicker than normal ones? Ours usually gets me in the day after if I have toothache
Have you tried your local hospital, don't they have a dental clinic that might be able to get you in sooner

If it gets really bad I'm going to the hospital. I'll try the cloves and the tincture, but I don't think I'll be able to stand the pain for two weeks
