tragedy

last week very friendly and nice golden retriver has been put to sleep, because all of the sudden he bite his owner, his owner's father, uncle and a friend. all this in just one week. he was well socialised and there were never any problems with his behaviour (he just barked a lot).
he was sleeping with his owner's in bed, all attention was to him and he was really well behaved...
in my opinion he had a great dog life....
but all of the sudden, he went mad!
i cant understand how could this happened?
do you?

Its quite possibly the dog may have had a brain tumor, I have heard of this happening before,

Very sad! It does make me upset and confused when a happy, usually placcid dog turns. Had the uncle done anything unexpected etc? Maybe the dog was in pain or ill. It is tragic when that happens! But unfortunately, not unheard of.

PS. We apopted a puppy from a pound when I was a child. He was fine for the first couple of weeks, and then started having these aggressive turns and then sleeping. He would then wake up and wonder why everyone was wary. It turned out it was drugged+++++++ at the pound and had very bad epilepsy, and the vet said either we carry on drugging him or put it to sleep as he would get worse. Knowing what I know now, I would have persevered but Mum was scared having 2 children about. (He would have us pinned behind doors, snarling and snapping) and had him put to sleep. That was 20 years ago and I still think of him. He was our 1st dog.

A labrador a few years ago in the next street attacked its owner and one of the children. The dog had to be destroyed because of the severity and they asked the vet to do a post mortem and they found it had developed a brain tumour which they reconed-would have altered its personality.Sad really, because it was only 2 years old.

A very unfortunate and sad situation I agree, it does sound like a problem with the brain, or some severe physical pain, which made the dog act entirely out of character. Did your friends have an autospy performed to determine what was wrong?

I´m sorry to hear
What coursed it is really hard to tell.
Could be, as mentioned, illness. Could be behavior.

No matter what coursed it, its sad when something like that happens

That is very sad.
I think I'd like a PM just to be able to say - poor thing, brain tumour etc.......but what if nothing was found? Might feel worse.
