Do you wrestle with your dogs?

i enjoy wrestling with poppy sometimes, i know this can cause problems but i have rules & if she gets rougher than i'm happy with which means me being able to feel a little more pressure from her teeth than i'm happy with i say 'gently' it's rare that she keeps being too rough after i say gently but if she does i say oww loud & sharp & stop the game immediately.

poppy is 6 years old now & has never bitten me only mouthed me when we've been playing. she has never punctured, torn or bruised my skin with her teeth (even though my skin is quite fragile & i bruise easily due to a condition i have) she's done far more damage with her claws than she ever has with her teeth.

however i would never wrestle with my terrier tiger because she would quickly become too excited & would hurt me.

personally i believe wrestling is ok with some dogs (depends on their temperament) as long as you have rules & you stick to those rules but i'm curious as to what others think

Both mine are big and super fast so no I don't play like that as I would end up hurt, plus they have each other for that type of play, I am the official ball thrower in their minds.

No, as I feel Gelert in particular would get carried away. He can wrestle with other dogs, not people.

I used to wrestle with my Boxer and with Syd my Dobermann when he was a one and only but if I tried it these days it would end up a big bundle no doubt with me on the bottom

Yes - they dont try and wrestle with me the same way as with each other but I get on the floor and headbutt them on occasion - neither of them use their teeth with me when wrestling

No. He's not a dog who plays in that kind of way. He's a zoomie fan and toy flinger on occasion.

Yep I do, she's very soft mouthed but occasionally I say "off" and she tends to back off, if not I stop the game.
