Do dogs need passport for Ireland?????

Dh is from Ireland (southern Ireland)and we often go over to visit his family. Havent been with Bella before though.
Does she need a passport???? Have looked at various info but am confused LOL(may be because it's Friday, but it doesnt take a lot to confuse me LOL) Am panicking now...as passports all sound complicated...
Also, anyone been on a ferry before with a dog? Can she just stay in the car? (we usually go Stenna Line, but could do Irish Ferries if they're better for dogs) We usually do the fast crossing,so only about 2 hours...not sure she'll be impressed though...
Begining to think I might stop here with her..LOL

I knew a guy about 5 or 6 years ago who used to take his dog and you didn't need a passport for them then - not sure whether the rules have changed at all since then though.

Nope no passport needed

I have done the Stranraer to Belfast journey loads of times with the dogs and they are fine in the car, actually usually sleeping when we return.

Thanks!
Basi, would Belfast be different though as it's Northern Ireland ( and therefor UK)? We do Hollyhead to Dublin. Is Dublin OK without passsports?
Glad to hear dogs are ususally fine though

No you don't need one for the south either.
