Testicles - what age do they drop & are noticable in a young pup?

just a quick question about male dogs, what age do the testicles drop & are noticable in a young pup ? i have heard some dont show/ drop until about 12- 18 months old . can anyone help with this question , as i would like to show my male siberian husky when hes old enough next year.:smt002 :smt002

not sure but i do remember my vet telling me to keep checking them when we went for are 6 month check becuse mist had only 1 that had dropped

When Inka was examined 4 week ago he only had 1 dropped, the vet told me as far as castration goes the paper work states between 10 and 12 months, that could be a guideline for claiming insurance for dogs that need done for medical reasons cause they thought Inka would need evasive surgery to find his other 1, but it has turned up quite high but feelable, Kain has had both decended from about 5 month a big healthy white pompom lol

I was at a reproductive seminar in the USA last year and the specialist in this area said that (and I may get mixed up between the left and right here) if the left one comes down before the right one then the right one will come down, if the right one comes down before the left then chances are the left wont make it,(as I said I cant remember which was which will try to find my notes on this) reason for this is one testicle has further to travel down if the one higher up comes down first it basically blocks the second one from coming down.

Most 8 week puppies should normally have two decended testicles when they go to their new homes. They will ascend and decend freely though. So sometimes they will no be felt, but they should be down to stay by the age of about 5 or 6 months.

Both of Ollies are down at 6 months they were noticeable at around 5 months and you could feel them at 4 months,I kept a good check as one of my previous dogs had an undescended testicle and the op was quite big when he was castrated.
Ollie will not have his after Wednesday.

Yes - agree with Dawn - you should be able to locate them both at 8 weeks - like little tiny peas! And the vet at the first check up/vaccination will comment if present/not. But a word of warning don't continuously feel them as they can pull them back up!

I would say if not fully dropped at 6 months then possibly not dropping but they won't do surgery until at least a year.

My English didn't drop anything until 10 m - that was only 1 and the other never appeared!
