Cost of titre testing

Can anyone tell me the general cost of titre testing (in the UK), please?

Roxy is almost 13 years old and was due her booster vacs in September last year. Molly is 10 1/2 and was due hers in November last year. I decided not to have them vaccinated anymore.

My vet was fine with this and didn't try to force anything on me at all. I explained that I was considering titre testing them in the new year. I hope I've made the right decision for them both.

Note his is not a thread for vaccination debate, just wanting to know the general cost of titre testing or any other forms of antibody testing.

Thank you.

TBH I wouldn't have either titre tested nor vaccinated again at their ages

I don't really plan to have them vaccinated again but curious as to what an antibody test would reveal regarding their immunity.

Titre testing doesn't show you immunity levels, it shows the memory cells which indicate whether a dog has has contact with the diseases tested for

I titre test my puppies to check that the maternal memory cells have gone to insure that I'm not vaccinating too early. I only do them once, unless there is an outbreak now, used to test more regularly in the past

That's what my vet told me....that's it's memory cells that are being tested.

Why, though, so some people recommend it and then vaccinate (or not) according to the results?

Memory cells and reactivity can give you a broad indication if the body has built antibodies against whatever antigen it was created to protect the body from. Memory cells can provide immunity since memory cells will activate the immune system to eradicate whatever they were originally made for if ever faced with it again in the future. I do not know what the average cost is where you are though. I'm sure someone will come along that can give you an answer.

I used to pay just under £50 in total, for vets time, taking of blood and lab fee.
