So Proud of my Kismet today

Many of you may be aware. I have been working with Kismet recently after a few incidents where she was attacked by smaller dogs and then finally snapped and attacked a dominant little westie.. No one was hurt, but it shook us all.. Dogs and owners alike.

Since then she has been struggling with all dogs and has a fearful aggressive response. We have been working on it. Muzzled and double leaded we have been walking behind other dogs and working on a heel and watch me command around small dogs, her worst fear.

Today we went back to the scene of the crime!

A big dog walking field full of offlead crazy dogs. Kismet had her head collar, her harness and of course her muzzle and the splitter lead (one end hooked to headcollar the other to the harness as failsafe), we were immediately greeted by a crazy out of control crazy collie.. She handled it fine, play bowing and greeting him in a friendly manner, we went on to greeting a pair of labradoodles, a husky and had a long line play with a pair of shepherd puppies. She had a bit of a growl at a cocker puppy, bit too small, but came to heel when I called her and sat in a perfect 'watch me' then walked to heel as we moved away. She was terrified of a pair of Lhasa apsos, but again was able to put her back to them and 'watch me' while we walked on by. Progress!

I couldn't have been more proud of my girl.

Well it's still early days. But I'm proud of any improvement! I have had kismet since she was a tiny ball of fluff, yet still she developed first crazy food aggression then aggression to selkie and pharaoh now this small dog aggression.

Sometimes I feel like I must have failed get somehow.

Well done to you both

As to you failing her, maybe it was in her already. Have you thought of that? Do you know what her parents and siblings were like?
