For the Stafford Fancier.......Nostalgic Pics..

Here are some pictures I thought may be of interest to the Stafford Fanciers & Bull Terrier Fanciers on here, it is old pictures I have come accross along the way of KC staffords from the early and latter half of last century and a few of the old style EBTs.

No pictures were resized for dogweb because they are simply unviewable at a smaller size, hope you enjoy.

Crufts 1939 Look at the Variance in Colour, all of the dogs look much fitter too than the Staffords you would see at Crufts today shame they never kept the breed Standard as it was

Joe Mallen & Friends, love the name of the dog on the right lol

Champions 56-65 Like Weycomb Cherry she looks nicely proportioned & not too overdone.

Champions 66-70 Brindis Kim is another real nice looking bitch imo nice & fit looking & again not too overdone.

[img][680:800]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v165/IrishStaff/engch66to70.jpg[/img]

1971-1977 Champions seems there was a variance even back then but looks like there were more in proportion dogs too

Joe Mallen & Stowcote Pride

An old EBT picture, shame the breed never stayed this way rather than overexaggerated way they look today imo they look in proportion & fit in these pics I havent seen a Bullie in a while I could describe as such.

Another old EBT picture

Last pic of an EBT (drawing).

For anybody interested there is a new website (www.staffordtribute.com you need to wait for the pop-up it is the website) it features information stories & pics of Staffords mainly Irish bred ones the picture gallery is particularly good.

Hope you enjoyed them!

Nice arent they Staffy? If I could find one like this I would have one in a flash I think the head is perfect in that picture of lots of bullies.

I do love bullies and would love one in the future but you can see from those pictures how much heavier the head has become over time- but then you could say that about staffys too

Hi Lel,

I agree with you on that , I think the head and body too has become a lot lot heavier, don't get me wrong I love Bullies but after seeing pictures like this I know what I prefer; the same goes with Staffords too just luckily there are people around today who keep the Stafford as it once was I dont think that the same can be said for the EBT.

That said there was an advert a year or so ago with pics for an EBT bitch she was probably only around 17" in height but very lean & athletic (muscular) with less exaggerated head did you ever see her she was stunning.

Why is it that we are never happy with what we have and insist on exaggerating breeds, just looking at Staffords, Bulldogs, EBTs I am sure the list must go on

Oh there I go again lol
