Heel work improving!

Vegas is improving on the lead and now will 90% of the time walk confidently by my side without pulling-until he spies another dog!

I know the previous owners never had him on a lead and its a new thing to him to be tethered, but he's gonna have to get used to it! Stopping him from jumping up is another hurdle we face and this is getting a bit better, but he still has his moments...

Earlier on while chatting to another dog owner i know,Vegas bounced up in the air then spun round and was desperately trying to get Tango (other dog) to play with him.Unfortunately, she is only intrested in balls and Vegas wouldnt take no for an anwser.I made him sit and everytime i felt he was going to explode with excitement,i kept telling him to remain sitting-which he did!

He's some way off being well behaved, but we are slowly getting there!

The main problem with Vegas is that he's kinda like a firework-all or nothing and trying to predict when he's planning to explode into a excitement frenzy is difficult.I was talking to a lady this afternoon who has a male Boxer and Vegas was desperately attempting to make him to play, but he was having none of it.Then Vegas spotted (i didnt!) a Collie comming across to see us-my arm felt like it was going to be torn off!

Im gonna have to buy a harness for his own safety because it cannot be good jumping about like this with the lead attached to his collar.

Anyway-were making progress regardless!

oops-forgot to add that an inspector from the re-homing shelter is paying us a visit tomorrow to see how were getting on.Perhaps i ought to put glue on Vegas's paws to keep them firmly on the ground...(only kidding!).

This morning,i let Vegas off the lead on the field behind my house because he wanted to play with a friends Collie and he actually returned when i called to him!

I know it was early in the morning and other than the Collie, there was no other distrations-im very proud of him. :smt052
