4 oz plain flour
4 oz ground rice
5 oz butter
2 oz sugar

Cream the butter and sugar together and slowly work in a mixture of the rice and flour.

Roll out in a round about 1/2" thick, pinch the edges and prick all over with a fork.

Bake at 350 (F), gas mark 4 for 20 minutes or until delicately brown.

Once cooled sit down with a cup of tea and enjoy

Here's another simple recipe I use:

250g Plain Flour
75g Caster Sugar
175g Butter (prefarably unsalted)

Preheat oven to 160°C. Grease a baking tray.

Mix flour & sugar in a bowl, rub in butter and knead to a smooth paste. (I just bung it all into a food mixer and blitz.)

Roll out to around 1cm thick and cut into desired shapes.

Place on baking tray and bake for approx 30min untill pale golden,

The words "delicately brown" seem to have been misunderstood

It was my first attempt - it just seemed soft after 20mins, but I guess it was done then I got sidetracked!

Will try again at weekend

Ovens can vary alot in temp and cooking times, you'll probably have to experiment.

Is it a fan oven? If so, you'll find that reducing recipes temps by 20°C should be better.

Good luck for next time!
