Lets hope someone polices the sentence and she doesn't manage to own another dog.

Shame all round for the child and the dogs. Can't say I have much sympathy for the son or Grandmother.

Was the son banned from keeping dogs to? because although she was looking after the dog at the time, the dog was owned by him.

Think she should have been fined more than just £105 for costs.

They were both banned for keeping or owning dogs for life.

The one thing I can never understand about this case is that the dog was supposed to have attacked the child as he slept.
I just don't understand why a dog would attack a sleeping child

While I agree with her being punished, I'm also confused, in that article it says that the dog wasn't hers, but I do understand that she was responsible for the dog at the time, but if the dog wasn't hers I don't think banning her from owning dogs will be too much skin off her nose, unless she too has a pet or am I missing something?

I mean don't get me wrong, if I was looking after a dog and this happened I would take resonsibility, and I expect her to take resposibilty, but for me at this time the only punishment for her I can see (as from that article it seems she can have any other pet) is her having to pay £105 costs, as if she stays ut of trouble for 18 months she wont go to jail, and I don't feel personnally that that's enough for allowing a animal that you are in charge of doing what happened, maybe its just me though

She is banned for keeping and owning a dog which I take to mean she can not be responsible for one or own one.

In my opinion the family were responsible for all the dogs as they changed between different members. The in whelp bitch that died just after the child was killed was living at the childs house.

Bans are pretty much unenforcable unless the person lives alone.

I think in this case, because of all of the publicity, this is the one dog owning ban that will stick because all their neighbours will know about the ban and report them the minute they see a dog step foot over the threshold.

More commonly they are very difficult to police because they rely on people knowing about and reporting those who breach bans.
