Foxy:
My 14 year old son says that there is a site called www.runescape.com that you can play on without chat
Thanks Foxy

Carole:
my son is on that all the time
Why do I get the feeling I am gonna lose my pc again

Leo:
Unfortunatly that most games today that you play online have the feature to communicate with other users in the game as you are useually playing in teams this helps the game but on the other hand users can give e mail addys and other info there is not anything that i'm aware of to stop this.
That sounds like something I like. I'm not totally against him socialising on the net, just worried in case he tells people our address. phone number, how old he is etc, etc... you know where I'm coming from with this.

Natasha:
My 15 year old brother plays on the online games so I asked him if he knew of any games that you cant interact with other people, and he didnt know of any. All the ones he plays on you can either type in information or use the microphone, and the games he plays on you can give out as much information as you like, as it isnt really possible to keep track on whats being said because there are too many members. The only thing that can be done is that the person is reported for whatever reason. But these are just the games he plays on, there might be games with what you want out there just harder to come by.
I don't have a lot of time to go searching for games (have left that to the kids in the past). It just worried me when I watched him playing on one the other day and I noticed a chat window on it. That worried me! Especially when I read what he had written and he had told all 1,100+ players where we lived (town wise that is) and that he was 15! At which point I disconnected the internet and gave him a stern telling off and a reminder of my feelings about IRC and what you don't divulge.

As it happens, he's already been playing on that one (although I hadn't seen him when I first posted) How do you disable the chat?

Cheers Fred, Family games sounds good
one of the probs I have found is that my old, decrepid and slow but reliable pc doesn't have the processor speed needed for many of these games now, so my kids can't play together on them.
