Average House Price - what do you get?

Another thread got me thinking.

The average price for a semi-detached in the UK is £206,054.

What could you buy within 3 miles of your home postcode for that?

If you use the RightMove website, you can post a link to the house.

For £205,000 within 3 miles of my house I could buy:
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetai...a_n=1&tr_t=buy for £205,000 (2 bed bungalow).

What about you?

But mine is a 2 bed bungalow in a village full of old people in the middle of nowhere!

Yours is a 4 bed detached with a pretty big garden!

Tell me about it.

One of the houses in my block was sold four months ago for £1,3 million and it only had 5 bedrooms.

Thank god I brought my place in 1992 when house prices were sensible.

My place has got the extra bedroom, which is used as my office.

Last year when we had it valved and before the extention went up it was only worth £995,000.

Problem is I love this house so much that I just couldn't bring myself to sell it unless someone offered me around the £1,3 million mark.
