Help with dogs Tartar on his teeth

My lab is only 14 months but has a lot of tarter on a few of his teeth. This is what they look like.

I had my last lab and he lived until 12years and his teeth were not this bad when he left me.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm no expert on the subject and have never had a dog or cat that suffered with this. But I do remember reading ages ago that feeding dry (as opposed to wet) food is not a solution. Also more recently that feeding meaty raw bones helps stop the build up.

Also that plaque and tartar are different things. Plaque removed easily - tartar not so easily.

Will he let you brush his teeth? With special doggy toothpaste of course, as human toothpaste is bad for dogs [usually because of the added fluoride] because dogs cannot spit.

Otherwise give him regular raw chicken wings!

They don't look that bad to be honest, a few raw bones should clean that up

raw bones are good for keeping teeth clean. you can also add fragaria to their food, that helps with plaque and is all natural so does no harm.

Malka: Yes i do clean his teeth he loves them cleaned but just have difficulty cleaning the bottom ones on one side. He has a slight undershot jaw.

When i went to vets the other week i mentioned to her about his teeth and she sold me a product called Hexarinse, he hates it when you go to the cupboard to get it out he goes and hides. Never given raw bones before but will give them try.

Agree, stick to the big raw knuckle or shin bones - don't be tempted to buy the bones already cooked in the pet shops, they can crack and splinter - cooking/roasting dries the bone out. The big raw bones last well and they adore them

I find Logic jell helps to prevent tartar, I put it on the roof of the dogs mouth .

I give Busby a tiny scoop of vetinary PlaqueOff once a day - it seems expensive to buy a small pot, but lasts for ages. It's a sort of seaweed powder that softens plaque and tartar. If your dog also has dried fish skin stuff (Fish4Dogs or Angell Petco) each day, they work together to keep the teeth clean.
