Travellers

just wonderd how you all felt about travellers?

reason i am asking is we seem to flooded with them here at the moment ...one group were finally moved on last weekend after court orders etc costing our local council a fortune they left the site looking like a rubbish tip only to move 1 mile down the road to another beauty spot ....it is estimated to clean up will be £40.000 !!!!!!!!!!! should the laws be changed or should we just put up with council tax rises every year to pay for the clean up ?????????

i dont see why we should have to pay for them . they have no respect for us our our property or the land they " comandear" to live on .. bloomin menaces the lot of them.. i may see things differntly if they worked for a living and cleaned up after themselves ! and paid their way like the rest of society has to do !

Around here they are always fighting each other
Sometimes very seriously (using knives and pickaxe handles)
some are a menace and i don't trust them

Agree with all the above. They arrived at the back of us a few years back and made a horrible mess of the surrounding countryside, plus raced cars up and down the road at night.

We get a lot of travellers around here, some come for the fruit/veg picking ...they make a bit of a mess sometimes but have no rubbish collection as we do so a bit of mess is to be expected.

I don't mind them live and let live ..ok it costs to clean up after them but probably no more so than it costs to clean up after the idiots who come from the towns and throw litter around/abandon rubbish/cars every weekend and let there dogs poo all over the Malvern hills..

There are good and bad in all communities
it's shame to brand all people of one particular group as being the same..

We tend to have two types of travellers......the old fashioned "gypsy" type ones........they are fab...tend to keep themselves to themselves are usually tidy...(hope the "gypsy" bit does not offend anybody, but I was advised by a traveller that was what he prefered)

Then you get the "new age" travellers, a good percentage of whom are lazy g*ts, who are the most digusting ignorant filthy pigs and leave a absolute mess behind them.

A friend has "gypsy" type come to his farm every year for fruit and veg picking and they are fab have been coming for years and he always looks forward to them coming...hard workers and not scared of a hard shift for a decent shilling!

Yes!! I think if I was thirty years younger I would be a new age traveller
...a neat and tidy one.
I would probably have a Mongolian Yurt rather than a caravan.
...and I would protest and chain myself to trees and I would grow a beard.
