Do you throw sticks for your dogs?

Well after looking at this website that JoedeeUK showed me, I'm really worried about throwing sticks for Gadget!

I just wanted to see what other dogwebbers thought...

I have heard to these tragic incidents with sticks being thrown for dogs.

I do throw sticks for my dog Toby in the park, but make sure they arent too small and fragile also I always fool him and throw it the opposite direction he thinks Im going to throw it so it lands on the ground before he gets to it.

Mine dont 'do' stick lol but i wouldnt throw them for them anyway. The man who runs our dog traning told us about a police dog he used to work with and they were called out to a suspected robbery, there was nobody there but wanted to reward the dog for serching the building. He told us he left the dogs toy in the car as was to lazy to get it as it was about 2am so he picked up a stick and threw it. The stick turned over and over in the air and stuck into the mud, the dog came hurtling towards it and it went through the roof of his mouth, into his brain and killed him instantly He said what made it worst was the fact that he could see what was going to happen and he couldnt do anything to stop it So no, i dont throw sticks for my dogs.

We did used to throw sticks for our dog because she seemed to like them but only occasionally. I am certainly put off after reading this. I just used to worry about her gums bleeding. She did have lots of toys but seemed to like sticks too.

No chance with Blackie, he watches me throw the stick, watches it land, looks up at me with the expression of "Go and get it then!" or "Who do you think I am, your slave!!!"
makes me laugh every time.

Cassie tends to pick them up and if they look a bit iffy, I'll tell her to drop it, but if they're pretty chunky and clean I'll let her carry it for a while, but I wouldn't throw it for her. She soon loses interest in it anyway and drops it Georgie carries his big hard rubber ball, everywhere, so he just wouldn't be interested. They are dangerous because of the way they can land and if your dog's quick enough to get to it just as it might bounce, you're in big trouble I think
