Anniversary...

Nope, not as in wedding, that's a couple of months away. (Note to self, don't forget...)

Been a Dogwebber just over 4 months (Crikey! ) so not that either...

It's pretty much exactly a year ago today since I was sitting in the bottom of this
thinking "This is odd, I can't stand up! Also, my leg looks funny..."

Also, here's a pic of what it looks like a year on. It works pretty good thanks to the Trauma Unit at the John Radcliffe in Oxford. If you ever break any bones badly enough to require surgery, do it in Oxford!

Ta very much! I think it's about as good as it's gonna get, which is very nearly normal. To remind you what I did, I broke both tibia and fibia, one of which was a spiral fracture and broke the socket bit of my ankle in several places. How I did that much damage, I'll never know...

Partly to mark the 1 year on and partly just 'cos I felt like it, I got out an old board I'd made from solid Ash and cut it down to the same shape as one of my other boards, which due to my questionable construction techniques was coming apart... I call it my Eddie Aikau model, in honour of a famous Hawaiian surfer. I got the idea from a skate forum where someone had posted pics of a board they'd got called the Duke Kahanamoku.

I got an image from the web and printed it off, stuck it to the wood and put a thin layer of glue over it. Looks OK, under the varnish. I found a bit of old grip tape from another project and put it on top in small pads, so you can still see the wood on top. Come on sunny weather, I've got hills to carve!

Hi Rich I am happy for you that you are recovered enough to get back on a board ..it must have been annoying having to watch others and not being able to get on one yourself ..
