rip-off britain

i bought a new SUBARU WRX STi two years ago. it was not fitted with front fog lamps, " that's an optional extra " said the salesman. last winter i decided to fit lamps on it, so i went back to dealers and asked for a price. the price quoted was £550 !!!! and that's just for the kit, you have to fit them yourself. so i told him to go and insert them in himself. i went into HALFORDS and got two lamps, a switch, and a relay, total cost £33. SUBARU need to change their name, " RIPOFF " comes to mind !!!!

here's a pic of my boys toy.

it's a MEAN MACHINE !!

I had a 2003 Japanese Domestic Model STI Version 9 3-years ago also in blue.

I must admit it was a fantastic car even if it was totally impractical for my day-to-day life hence the reason I had to sell it a year later. But I must admit that I still miss it to this day.

It came fitted with the Twin Scroll Turbo and the Intercooler Water Spray with had Auto & Manual settings, plus the STI Quick Steering Rack, Equal length exhaust manifolds, Milltek Sport exhaust - 3" diameter, stainless steel, DCCD - Drivers Control Centre Differential with Auto & Manual settings, Climate Control, Powerstation performance upgrade: 350 bhp - 348 lbs torque, Powerstation geometry set up, Eibach lowering springs, Electric windows, Electric & folding mirrors, Rear wiper/washer (Not available on UK cars), PAS, Cat 1 Immobilizer and Brembo brakes.

If you want to get spare parts for your car go to Essex Subaru breakers: http://www.essexsubarubreakers.co.uk/ and talk to either Jamie or Mike on 01268 572149.

They are both really knowledgeable and will go out of they way to help you with whatever problem you may have.

If you really want to open her up, book yourself a driving holiday to either Spain or Germany.

After that you will never want to drive it on the UK roads again.

I must admit that I took mine down to the South East of Spain to our villa in Denia and after that return drive I really think that was the beginning of my decision to sell it. You see that car was made to go quick around the mountain bends and I had a such a fantastic time while I there was trying to push it to the limit, but I always bottled out at the last minute, but once I got home again and saw nice old flat Brighton I realised that I could never recapture those feeling again.

Mind you, with you being in Scotland I bet you have a great time going around all those mountain roads. Have you got the DCCD - Drivers Control Centre Differential with Auto & Manual settings on your one? Put it into manual and then put your right foot down. That will give you the biggest smile you have ever had.

Enjoy.

no colin, it's a six speed manual box, with a viscous coupling, and limited slip differential front and back. there's a racing circuit not far from where i live, "KNOCKHILL racing circuit " you've bound to have seen it on TV. they've got the racing track, 1 1/4 miles, and a rally track. i've done a few cicuits in an E-TYPE JAG, but there's not a lot of head room in those cars, as you'll know. have'nt had the SCOOBIE up there yet, as you say the roads in the highlands are great for STi's.

My Impreza came with Fog lights as standard 5 years ago an automatic station wagon that I adore to bits. Me thinks it is your dealer that was trying to rip you off

have a look at colins post #5, thats how the car was marketed. you'll note there's two small fairings on the front bumper with badges STi, that's where the fog lights go.
