Masticatory muscle myositis - please advise...

Our five year old Basset has been diagnosed with MMM and has been placed on CellCept 125mg per day (he is approx 30kgs). He seemed to be reacting well, apart from being a bit sick but he was able to eat and his form had improved. However yesterday he seemed to take a turn for the worse and refused food and seems very lethargic and is shaking in his bed. I didn't give him any medication last night as the vet told us to stop the medication if he was having bad side effects. When we speak to the vet he just tells us to mess about with the dosage and see if his form picks up. I am worried that if we stop the medication that his jaw will not open and he will have to be put to sleep. He is a much loved member of our family and I am at a loss as what to do next. If anyone can advise, please do...thanks K
