Great idea - thanks WhichPets!

Here's the one item I would recommend all puppy owners get, a kong

It's the one toy that has lasted for years and years - and great for teething puppies

Rope toy and chicken soup.

(when you freeze a rope toy in chicken soup it acts as a tasty yet effective teething toy, the cool soothes the gums and the rope - if new - will help loosen and pull out the baby teeth)

Harness for the long line.
Dog tags - I would go to Collars and tags for this - free delivery!

Books:
Training books
Feeding books (Raw, Dry and Wet)
Breed books
First aid for dogs

Sorry if I've repeated any and I'm not sure about the books but there are the ideas I would have for the books people can read

Is it possible to put crate or safety gate? I know a lot of people use crates now but we never used to, and I`d hate people to think you can`t raise a pup without a crate.

I forgot to add a few things, but cannot edit the main thread anymore:
Under Grooming/Heath:
Worming and Flea Treatments - these are best purchased from the vets as it is important to know the age/weight of the puppy to find a suitable treatment. Behind the counter products are much more effective than those found on the shelf.

Car Safety:
Seat Belt Attatchment - Clips on to a harness and plugs in to the seat belt.
Car Harness, Extra Small, Small Medium, Large
Fabric Travel Kennel - Various sizes
Car Boot Guard

Alternatives to Crates - Useful for toilet training, night time and periods when the puppy has to be left alone:
Playpen - as posted originally
Door Gate - Useful so the puppy can see you and hear you but is confined to a room
