my dog is bleeding heavy (Update @post 16 following operation for pyometra)

Hi have just found this forum and it looks great.!!

Thought someone might be able to help me, my 10 year old dog Rusty mixed terrier / staff has always had 2 periods a year. She started in 2nd week January. Over the last few days she is bleeding everywhere I usually only see a few spots. Since yesterday she has not been eating and drinking loads of water. Also some of the blood is quite clotty. Going to ring vets in morning. She seems okay in her self. Do you think its maybe her age is this normal, very worried for her.
Would appreciate any advice thanks
sarah

I can only agree with what the others have said. In view of her age I'd get her seen asap.

Vet ASAP..that is NOT normal and she could need very urgent treatment. Don't want to worry you but time is of the essence here, especially if she's showing any signs of a temperature too??

Hi thanks alot for all your replies sorry did not get back sooner. After I read 1st two replies rushed Rusty to Vetst

She is going to have operation today or tomorrow they have put her on antibotic drips.
As someome said they think its polymetrie (sorry spellings sure to be wrong) infection in her unterus. Go to phone up at 5pm tonight, if they can fit her in will operate today.

First time she had been away from home I bet she cried all night.

At least she is in safe hands. Will update you on her progress.

Again thank you so much for all your help I just though maybe she's getting old

Sarah
