Sleep well Ellie May...

Sandra, hard as is may be try to be cheerful around Freddie so he isn't picking up on your sadness and it is best not to 'sympathise' with him but to speak to him in a 'bright' voice.

Keep him occupied with walks and play and don't make a fuss if he doesn't want his meal, leave it down for say half an hour then remove it without a word.

He should then get used to Ellie not being there in a few days.

Sorry to hear about Ellie-May. We lost our old dear earlier this year. The dogs kept looking for her and sniffing around where she was buried. Was really sad, but we just kept the routine the same and made sure the dogs had plenty to do and had plenty of cuddles. Admittedly, they did get some teary cuddles, and they did notice something was odd, so I tried not to get teary near them. Hope your other dog settles soon, it's such a sad time.
